The Alliance for Israel Advocacy (AIA) intends to add its voice and to organize the voices of others who favor Zion. It has long been argued that it is advisable for America to be allied with the only democracy in the Middle East. This has been offered as justification of American support along with that of effective military strategy. Israel is well known as a successful startup nation which has fostered and developed cutting edge electronics and biotechnology. Further, it espouses and practices cultural and government policies based on Judeo-Christian values.
These are among many of the arguments in favor of support for Israel.. However, AIA will seek to add a crucial, necessary and most often forgotten piece to the discussion of its support. The mystery of Israel is perhaps best understood by referencing the Holy Scriptures. After all, the Bible’s central historical focus is about the Jewish people.
The use of the secular arguments enumerated above are good but somewhat defensive. They can sometimes seem like entreaties to allow Israel to exist. Rather, the AIA approach is to explain that the Bible represents the title deed to the land.
This is more assertive and a crucial piece of the puzzle. The conflict in human terms is strife about ownership of a small sliver of real estate. The Islamists and the Koran along with its elaboration in the Hadith, emphasize that once land has been conquered for Allah, no genuine devotee can rest until it has been retaken. If Israel cannot be militarily beaten, then that undermines and contradicts the validity of the Muslim's basic source documents.
The Torah, writings and Prophets (Tanach) state A diametrically opposing theology. The Old Testament clearly says the land was given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, David, Solomon, etc.
What’s more, God foretells that the Jewish people will be scattered and regathered (Deuteronomy 30).
(1) And it shall come to pass when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath driven thee, (2) And shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and shalt obey His voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; (3) That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee. (4) If any of thine be driven out to the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from thence will He fetch thee. (5) And the Lord thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
There are many Biblical citations which fortify Israel’s theological case. So, we have a disputed title of ownership. Particularly hotly contested is the deed of ownership of Jerusalem. The Jewish Old Testament mentions the city 811 times. The Koran doesn’t mention it even once. The closest it comes to noting it is a night journey by Mohammed to some unknown and unspecified place. That trip the Muslims assume was to Jerusalem.
In addition to putting forward the usually unspoken theological case for Israel, there is also influencing the general secular public in the marketplace of ideas. The American Israel Political Action Committee (AIPAC) is a well known and effective lobby, primarily on Capitol Hill. AIA intends to make its advisory voice heard in the highways and byways of public discourse among ordinary people, not just elected office holders.
Moreover, AIPAC primarily is supported and represents some five and a half million traditional liberal Jews. This we applaud. AIA seeks to increasingly energize Evangelical Christians, whose sentiments towards Israel are often favorable but passive. Bible believing Christians, who could be effectively addressed number in excess of 80 million. It is the purpose of AIA to try and increasingly make active this powerful force on Israel’s behalf. This latter group represents a largely conservative constituency, which can help counter the erroneous attitudes of the predominately liberal media.
Israel needs passion on its behalf expressed by American supporters. Some things need to be said by others outside the Israeli government.
There may be a place for well intended compromise, but not in this case. The conflict will not be fully resolved until there is a winner and a loser. Wishful thinking will not remedy this ancient conflict.
AIA will be a steadfast champion for the people of Israel and their undisputed right to the Land until there is a united Israel, or until our Messiah returns.
